ANOTHER FRIEND ASKED ME YESTERDAY “IS IT STRESSFUL?”
I WROTE BACK.
IT’S A MEGILLAH, AS USUAL.
I THOUGHT I’D (OVER?) SHARE MY RESPONSE WITH YOU.
Hi. I can only respond for Steven and moi. This is only about our personal stress or anxiety levels.. Not about how we may feel about other people or the future of this country. That is a different question.
Up until now, we have not been too stressed nor anxious.
This is because we are in one of the easiest and most privileged positions possible.
We are not responsible for any old people, nor for children. We help our kids, we hang out with our kidlets, we give suggestions/advice WHEN asked BUT are not ultimately responsible for the safety of our kidlets. Noey and Batshi make ALL decisions and take ALL actions in this regard. We respect their decisions and abide by their directives.
We have no immediate family members who are combat soldiers in Gaza or anywhere else. (Though others we know do, of course.) We do not own a business or are employed or looking for work.
We have finances easily available to us.
We have total autonomy.
We are fit – in mind and body. For the time being, anyway.
And we are based in south Jerusalem, which has been spared the brunt of things.
Also, Steven and I are on exactly the same page regarding this issue of anxiety/fear/stress. One of us is not ‘pushing’ the other to do anything one is not comfortable with. We agree on our modus operandi re warning sounds and then real sirens.
We agree on the calculated risks we are prepared or not prepared to take.
And we agree that we are exactly where we want to be and where we belong.
Long answer to a short question.
